Orland Park is the large southwest-suburb village people name when they want shopping, a finished subdivision map, and a Metra SouthWest Service station they can actually use. La Grange Road, 159th Street, and I-80 set the week. It is bigger and more commercial than Homewood or Flossmoor. That is the point, not a knock.

The stock is mostly 1970s through 1990s single-family, plus condos and townhomes near the commercial corridors. People who like this town are shopping a finished suburb, not a blank field.
Northwest Indiana enters the conversation when the tax bill, the payment, or the floor plan does not work in Orland Park. Crown Point and Munster are the usual comparisons. Do not pretend Crown Point is a cheaper Orland Park. Redfin’s April through June 2026 Orland Park median sat above both Munster and Crown Point in their recent windows. You are comparing a different tax structure and, on a lot of streets, a newer house. Compare the house, the commute you will actually run, and the closed sales.

Redfin’s April through June 2026 median sale price for Orland Park was $396,784, up 7.2% year over year, from the Cook County city table (239 sales). That sits above Homewood ($259,859) in the same window, above Munster’s May through July 2026 Redfin median of $362,718, and above Crown Point’s $336,332. Those Indiana figures are not Orland Park prices. Price the house to recent Orland Park comps in the same subdivision.
Commute
Orland Park has Metra SouthWest Service stations at 143rd Street, 153rd Street, and 179th Street. I-80 and I-57 are the usual interstates. La Grange Road / US-45 and 159th Street handle a lot of the local drive. If you need the South Shore instead, that is a drive to Hammond Gateway or the Munster / Dyer stops. Confirm the current Metra and South Shore schedules. No invented minutes to the Loop.
Schools
Most addresses are in Orland School District 135 or Kirby School District 140 for elementary and middle grades, and Community High School District 230 for high school (Carl Sandburg High School is in Orland Park). Confirm the boundary for the lot. No invented ratings.
