Who lives in Portage, and why they move here
Portage is a work town. The Port of Indiana, the mills, I-80/94, and US-20 shape the week. Buyers who need a payment that still works, a yard, and a straight shot to work look here before they stretch into Valparaiso. People who want a boutique downtown usually keep driving to Chesterton or Valpo. That is an honest split, not a knock.
Ogden Dunes and the lakeshore sit next door. A Portage address is not automatically a beach house. Look at the street.
